CORPORATE VOLUNTEERS
Many business leaders are interested in having an opportunity to give back to the communities in which they work. Becoming a Corporate Volunteer gives them that opportunity. Meals on Wheels has an active corps of volunteers who come from area businesses. Our Corporate Volunteer program started in 1994 with Centier Bank becoming our first corporation to allow their employees extra time at their lunch break to deliver Meals on Wheels. The company selects the days they would like to deliver, and the employee(s) deliver meals on those chosen days. If there are two volunteers, one will drive, while his partner will be the runner and take the meal to the door. The greater the number of volunteers the company is able to recruit from their business, the less often any one person or team will have to deliver meals. Most companies who are participating also have a system in which individuals can “switch” with one another if they are unable to deliver on their assigned day. This effort does take one person internally who is willing to be the Team Leader. The Team Leader arranges for on-the-job training, serves as a liaison between the company and our staff, and makes sure that their scheduled dates of delivery are covered.
Many civic groups volunteer as a whole similar to the corporate volunteer program.
Please refer to the Delivery Volunteer page for specific volunteer information.
