Feeding Your Spirit
A building campaign to raise $2.4 million for a new Meals on Wheels facility was launched in the spring of 2005 after a 3-acre piece of land was generously donated by Dean White of Whiteco Industries. It was critical that Meals on Wheels build a new commercial kitchen to meet the ever-increasing demand for nutritious meals that are delivered to the region’s homebound elderly and disabled, as well as those in adult and child daycare centers. The Board of Directors and staff for Meals on Wheels were joined by numerous members of the community at our official groundbreaking for the new facility on November 29, 2005. Construction commenced on December 8, 2005.
Over $1.5 million of the $2.4 million goal has been raised, but your help is still needed to achieve our goal. Construction was completed in July of 2006, but the need to continue fundraising for the remaining $800,000 is critical to the future success of our program. An opportunity to contribute to a program that impacts the lives of so many families comes along very rarely. By building the new facility, we are not just talking about bricks and mortar – we are talking about feeding real people who are hungry and cannot do for themselves. They need everyone’s help, yours included. Help us take this opportunity to make a difference in our community with your pledge or donation to the Meals on Wheels Feeding Your Spirit Building Campaign.
